Traffic Concerns within Mearnskirk

We have received concerns of cars speeding and also going the wrong way around the mini roundabout in the vicinity of the old care home.

Mearnskirk Owners’ Association would kindly like to remind all car owners to be aware of the safety risk to pedestrians etc when driving around our area.

Our friends at Mearns East Community Council (MECC) have recently informed us that East Renfrewshire Council (ERC) have introduced the new Residential Streets (20 mph speed limit) Order 2025, which comes into force on 01/12/2025.

The order includes the whole of Mearnskirk. Potential standard fixed-penalty for speeding is £100 and 3 points on your licence.

Expect additional 20 mph signage to be installed around Mearnskirk at some point.

MECC have also sent a letter to ERC regarding the problem of the chicane layout in the vicinity of the COOP. The detailed letter included evidence of road accidents, together with the complaints of local residents etc. The MECC and our Local Councillors are hoping to arrange a meeting with ERC to discuss the matter.
